![]() Inertialess Drive - The Inertialess Drive is a non-Newtonian, reactionless form of voidcraft propulsion that allows a vessel equipped with it to move through space without any form of inertia. Please see ZFR Horizon Accelerator Engine below. Note: The Gravitic Drive was once considered canonical, but its canonicity is now questionable due to contradiction by new sources. These technologies are utilised exclusively by the T'au for interstellar travel. While a T'au starship outfitted with an Ether Drive can still achieve apparent superluminal velocities from the perspective of realspace, interstellar travel using this technology is far slower than conventional Warp travel. Despite the T'au's lack of psykers, and their lack of understanding of the true nature of the Empyrean, the Earth Caste have nevertheless developed an effective drive system that is sufficient to suit the needs of the rapidly expanding T'au Empire. Unlike an Imperial Warp-Drive, which allows a starship to fully enter and navigate through the Warp to achieve apparent superluminal speeds and reduced travel times in realspace, the T'au Ether Drive only allows a starship to make a brief "dive" into Warpspace. Ether Drive ( Gravitic Drive) - An Ether Drive is a form of non-Newtonian, reactionless FTL starship drive that allows for faster-than-light travel by skating the boundary between realspace and the Warp.Dolmen Gate technology was first developed by the Necrons with the aid of a C'tan so that they might make use of interstellar travel without having to face the dangers of the Warp. Dolmen Gates - A Dolmen Gate is a living stone portal that serves as a gate into a portion of the Webway that was created millions of Terran years ago by the highly advanced xenos species known as the Old Ones. The various forms of this advanced technology allows its users to traverse immense distances of interstellar space in a reasonable amount of time rather than the Terran solar decades to standard centuries required by conventional, sublight propulsion. In the Warhammer 40,000 universe, FTL travel is the primary method of long-distance interstellar transportation in the known galaxy. ![]() In accordance with the Special Theory of Relativity, a particle that has rest mass with subluminal velocity needs infinite energy to accelerate to the speed of light, although Special Relativity does not mathematically prohibit the existence of theoretical subatomic particles that travel faster than light at all times (called tachyons). "there's a strange stasis pod that catches your eye.Iron Hands Legion starships translate from the Warp into realspace using their Warp-Drives, displaying the Imperium's mode of faster-than-light travel.įaster-Than-Light or FTL is a term that refers to the propagation of matter faster than the speed of light in a vacuum. "Lady Captain Honor Satsuki Harrington Kiryuin"!!!, a specimen of what seems to me to be the most disruptive species in the galaxy! My inspiration for this Rebel Captain? Let's just say. In my headcanon, this hints that they might be an "uplift" species, perhaps specifically engineered from Earth insects to be killing machines, but got loose from their masters? These implacable green death-dealers seem to be identical like earth Mantodea in their anatomy. I love these guys with their green CRT monitor faces and friendly demeanor! I wanted to capture their living "silvery skin" made of trillions of nano-machines as mentioned in the game I imagine it to look like constantly shifting iron filings. "Now, most gracioussss captain, you must join me please in a drink to our alliance!"įTL's living energy reactors! I wanted these glowstick people to be human shaped with 4 limbs like the game sprite, but with clearly alien physiology. These living skeletons come from the void and asphyxiate you to death. Also, I was reminded of Necrons from their habit of spending eons in stasis. The new aliens in town! Clearly inspired by Dan Simmons' Shrike creature, (their 2nd ship is even called THE SHRIKE), I was also reminded of the T-1000 from their habit of turning into liquid metal goo. I had some cues but there were so many details I guessed at for my own interpretation. With the tiny game sprite size, drawing these was almost like literary fan art. I was inspired by the tiny pixel sprites to make portraits of the various aliens. Inspired by FTL from Subset Games, and drawn while listening to Ben Prunty's excellent soundtrack. Having never been to Disneyland when I was first exposed to Disneyland Fun, I was particularly fascinated by the Storybook Land Canal Boats. It’s a Small World takes us through the various attractions in Fantasyland, with special attention given to the namesake of the song. I’m Walking Right Down the Middle of Main Street U.S.A. Step in Time was written by Disney’s dynamic music duo, the Sherman Brothers. This is a remarkably honest look at the opening of a Disney Park and the music and action capture a bit of the chaos that park-goers find when they show up first thing in the morning. While Step in Time from Mary Poppinsplays, we see footage of guests rushing to their favorite rides and queuing up. Mickey and Friends welcome the guests to the Happiest Place on Earth and Disneyland opens for the day. The song builds in intensity and speed as guests start to pour into the park right before the rope drop. This immortal Disney classic was written by Frank Churchill and Larry Morey.Īs we continue deeper into the park we are introduced to many characters, all getting the park ready for guests. This segment starts with Goofy cleaning up Main Street and whistling, Whistle While You Work from Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. We will play every note so you can sing-along. Originally voiced by Bill Thompson, here this musical blue owl is voiced by Corey Burton.Īs I mentioned they do not include lyrics to sing-along to, but I am including them here just in case you want to sing along. Both of which are aptly about music education. The Professor would appear in two animated Disney shorts, Melody and Toot, Whistle, Plunk, and Boom. The intro, written by Patrick DeRemer, features Professor Owl and his students. I’m Walking Right Down the Middle of Main Street U.S.A.Unfortunately, it doesn’t have the bouncing ball, but the words are pretty easy to remember after repeated watching I count that because it is entertaining and I would never skip it while watching it. This includes the Disney Sing Along Songs Intro. They would eventually release other Sing Along Songs with this format, but for many years, Disneyland Fun, would be unique in its format. Instead of animation, we had live-action characters in costume shot at Disneyland. What made it special is that it was different than its predecessors. Disneyland Fun was the eighth release in the series. In total, they would release 32 Disney Sing Along Songs. ![]() The sing-along aspect of the video are lyrics at the bottom of the screen that are animated with a bouncing ball element to help you follow along and sing at home. How does your approach to shopping compare to your family ’s and friends’ s approach to shopping? Do you think you spend more or less than them? ![]() It’s not necessarily a season that I like. It’s not always positive pressure, but a lot of pressure to ensure that everybody has something. The pressure during the holiday season, because we have big families on both sides and lots of kids in different schools. Is there ever anything in your life that makes you feel pressured to shop? But if it’s just clothing or an electronic device, I’m usually an impulse shopper. Like a car or a boat? It takes months to decide. How long does it typically take you to make a decision to buy something? I’ll buy electronic devices for work, like TVs, on Amazon as well, and computers. I get telephones, cellular phones on eBay. I’ll be buying dog food on Amazon, or electronic devices like cameras. I do shop on Amazon a lot, I will say that. I’m constantly doing home I like to do a lot of projects and home repair myself. I want to be with the family or doing activities that I like to do. My free time, I don’t want to spend that shopping. Since I work by the hour, if I’m spending time shopping, it can be very costly. But typically my wife will buy a bunch of things at the store and then I will try them on. Days and even weeks later, those emotions were still raw. Among the most scathing commenters were many who had longstanding relationships with the Northwest Film Center, and whose emotions seemed to range from confusion to disappointment to anger. The initial reactions, as they often are on social media, were quick and unsparing. One thing seems certain: the direction that PAM CUT takes will be closely followed by a community of passionate filmmakers, educators, students, and cinephiles, all of whom will make their reactions known. It’s hard to know what to expect with any specificity, since both the vision and the language used to describe it have been, perhaps inevitably at this point, very fuzzy. The truth likely lies somewhere in the middle, reflecting longstanding tensions between the Portland Art Museum and its cinematic partner as well as the tectonic shifts of the last several years in the way Americans experience and interact with movies and moviemaking. Others, it seems to some, evince an intentional, or at least negligent, discarding of the Northwest Film Center’s institutional knowledge, employees, and core missions. Some were unavoidable, most notably the pandemic-induced shutdown that so rudely interrupted Dotson’s first (and last?) Portland International Film Festival.
